Backpack Assessment

This project was a three phase trial that was run as part of the postgraduate paper People, Technology and Design which considers people in relation to the physical environment and design technology. The trial employed two different assessment methods each requiring interaction with two different backpacks.

Phase One was a simulated shop test that allowed participants to interact with the backpacks as they would in store before making a purchase. This experience was documented through the answering of a questionnaire, as well as, participants' descriptions of the proces in their own words and sketches.

Phase Two involved walking around a standard tramping route for fifteen minutes wearing a weighted backpack. The experience was documented by the completion of a pre-walk survey, post-walk questionnaire and the description of sensory responses in the words and drawings of the participants.

Phase Three had participants stating their overall preference of backpack and supplying reasons for their choice.
