Teaching and research interests:

James Kaufman, FIDSA and Professor Emeritus from the Ohio State University as well as Principle of Kaufman and Company, a small design consultancy located in Pueblo West, Colorado, USA. For sixteen years he was Professor of Industrial Design and Design Technology in the Department of Industrial, Interior and Visual Communication Design at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in the USA. For eight years Professor Kaufman served as the Design Department chair at Ohio State. Professor Kaufman also served as Programme Coordinator for the Major of Industrial Design. Professor Kaufman is a member of the Board of Directors of IDSA serving in the role of Secretary Treasurer. Professor Kaufman has served as the National Education Chair for IDSA and is currently a National Association of Schools of Art and Design evaluator and former Accreditation Commissioner. Professor Kaufman has practiced professionally at the NCR and Hobart Corporations and numerous years participated at the consulting firm of Roudebush & Associates, Indianapolis, Indiana. Professor Kaufman's current practice, research and publications are based around curricula and learning for non-desigers. Kaufman specialises in professional interdisciplinary product design projects and innovative uses of technology.
