In November 2005, Affect - the Centre for Affective Design Research presented a workshop, New Product Opportunities - giving shape to vision, in Wellington.
On the first day, Rodney Adank and Anders Warell gave a welcome and address. Grant Davidson (of Philips Design) then presented an introduction. Participants were placed in groups and a brainstorming session was held to develop scenarios on new product opportunities and to explore networking opportunities. The groups then used mind mapping techniques to structure ideas. They defined areas of focus and generated criteria for evaluation. Concept generation, development, presentation and evaluation took place after lunch and a public presentation was held in the evening.
On the second day Rodney Adank and Anders Warell gave an introduction and provided a follow-up of day one of the workshop. Grant Davidson generated inspiration and groups developed their designs paying attention to specific design needs. Concept evaluation and Five Senses testing followed lunch and the workshop ended with the presentation of concepts and the award of certificates to participants.
