Tales from the Kitchen

A young researcher from Denmark is set to find out more about kitchen life.  Mette joined the AFFECT research centre as a visiting researcher from mid September to the beginning of December 2008.

Mette is interested in influencing how the future design of kitchens and appliances actually develops. Mette employs a user-centered design process.

While she was in New Zealand in 2008 she engaged with families in Wellington and Palmerston North to research what people really need in order to support their everyday activities in the kitchen. Based on the participants' contributions, innovative design concepts were developed together at "AFFECT - the Centre for Affective Design". These design concepts may influence the design of future kitchens and appliances.
